I'm looking for input and an example for what I'm about to accomplish with Soft
partitions on our Solaris 10 Sparc system.

We have 2 luns one is 153GB and the other is 156gb, and I've setup the disks
to have
everything on slice 0. These Luns are setup in an EMC Hardware Raid 5. Lun1
will contain the soft partition d100 /homea, d200 /homec,
d300 /homes, d400 /homes, and lun2 soft partition will contain d500 /homef,
d600 /homei, d700 /homem, d800 /homep. The soft partitions average between 27
to 42gb per partition.

Now I've specified all the space contain in slice 0 for each disk, and the
maximum size of a soft partition is limited to the size of the slice. What if I
want to expand later, I can't expand more space on this slice unless I set it
up in a volume first correct?

Here's what the manual says:
Because of this limitation, you should build a volume on top of your disk
slices, then build soft partitions on top of the volume. This strategy allows
you to add components to the volume later, and then expand the soft partitions
as needed.

Could someone give me an example commands on creating a Volume on top of a soft
partition so that I can expand the soft partitions later in the future, because
we do have a lot more disk space on our EMC array.
