I have to agree with Andrew. I've been doing this for many years. While I do
not dislike change, I do like options, particularly the option to lay out the
disk the way I like it. You have many good reasons to use a whole disk root,
but should your reasons dictate my options? I think not.

I installed the fall SXDE lately, curious about the new and much improved
installer.
I learned that it does look nicer, but actually gives me much less control.
There is no knob
to tweak for the filesystem layout, all you can do is specify the partition
size!! There goes

If you need more control over the install, choose Solaris Express Community
Edition instead of Developed Edition at the boot menu, then once the install
is finished, install the developer tools by hand using the
install_devtools.sh script in the DeveloperTools directory on the DVD.
