I have a 6-disk RAIDZ2 on an AMD64 system with 2GBRAM. Using dd to read a 6GB file to /dev/null, I get rates ranging from 35MB/s to 80MB/s. Worse, I see the disk activity light go out regularly for a few seconds at a time, and fsstats and iostats confirms the impression that there is basically no disk activity during this time. The CPU is also nearly idle during these intervals.
