Hi, you don't say whether audio works for you in general. So I may say that I
have the same board, and in general it does work for me. I'm using snv_b78.
Didn't bother with RealPlayer yet, though.

What components do I need to solely have the solaris kernel, full driver

I just bought a Sun Ultra 24 and it came with Solaris 10. I will be installing
SXDE next week when the new version comes out. I installed FileZilla (ftp
client) from sunfreeware.com and can run it as root. It works great.
When I run it as a regular user, I get the following error:

fails to download because the files are not found :(

I tried that just now but the same thing happened...all I got was ...'s and
reboots.
I have actually tried plugging an IDE dvd rom & hard drive but it still didn't
work...should I just give up?

The problem is when the user logs out. But, I can try deleting the wscon files
prior to logout and see if the behavior changes.

Just installed solaris10 and my real player is not able to play any audio or
video files .

The sata dvd-rom could be a problem, because some of
the (Open)Solaris sata host adapter drivers do not have
atapi (= dvd-rom, optical device, ...) support at this tim

first the file /etc/inet/ipnodes contains
127.0.0.1 loghost solaris_hppavilion
then i changed this file to
192.168.0.1 loghost solaris_hppavilion
but still i am getting the error...
and for 2nd and 3rd there are no .gnome files in home folder

For the first one it's not a error it's a warning ...
to stop seeing those messages just add to /etc/inet/ipnodes you need to do:
in the line that has your ip and hostname add at the end of line hostname.
ex:
192.168.0.1 fusionfusion.
