When I import a USB zfs pool (which contains, e.g., a .vdi image for use with
VirtualBox), how can I set the option(s) so that it will be writable by
specified users?

Sorry for my delay, but I need to restart PC to log in opensolaris to get this
information and then restart it again to log in windows and access the forum ^^.

Looks like your adapter is unknown
# kstat -c net|grep net
Whats your output?

Well, if the drivers are there they should be installed, otherwise the network
connection is misconfigured, or the drivers do not exist.
Before installation, did you check whether the drivers are available or not?
I'm not sure all wireless drivers for Atheros are available. I have a Packard

It is already enabled.

You need to enable physical adapter:
$ pfexec svcadm enable network/physical:default

Could you post the output of:
#ifconfig -a
and
#netstat -nr
Sometimes it helps when restarting the nwam:
svcadm restart nwam
Of course you first need to enable it.
The same way like you disabled it.

Hello guys.
First, sorry for my bad english.
So, going directly to the point, I am a real nub in linux (or any other system
but M$).
I like to learn linux and a friend of mine suggested to use opensolaris, so, I
have installed in a second HD this distro (2008.05).
It works fine with my hardwa
Upon booting any Solaris kernel I get did message.
Any idea how important this 'non-maskable' interrupt is?

I've got build 93 on a Sony Vaio laptop VGN-Sz4XWN/C. It works fine, and so
have the last half or dozen or so builds I've had on there (I first installed
Solaris Express about 6 months ago).
But I've downloaded build 94 and it panics during the install.
I get:

It may take more than a "few" hours ... "ls" your 'log' directory and see if
there is a "lock
Did you update the grub bootloader?
Here is the solution:
Boot from the 2008.05 livecd (console mode is all you need):
log in (jack, jack) and then su - (root, opensolaris). Then:
# zpool import -f rpool
# mount -F zfs rpool/ROOT/opensolaris /mnt
# /mnt/boot/solaris/bin/update_grub -R /mnt

I installed OpenSolaris 2008.05 from CD on an IBM ThinkPad T42 laptop. It
installed fine and I was able to use the system. I then decided to update the
different packages on the system to have the latest version of everything. The
first time, I updated everything in one go (3GB download in total

By the way, one of the PCIe slots has an angle adapter so I can attach a
graphical adapter to this one. Or since you mentioned 'workstation', I could
actually build the whole motherboard in a workstation frame so I would get rid
of the excessive vacuum cleaner sound.
In the end I paid this serve
I was just wondering that single user mode is not more safe.
I remember (at the time of my very first Solaris steps), I had a kernel panic
upon booting after adding an ethernet adapter.

Well , On of the first things I would try is turning off ACPI in the BIOS if
thats an option there.
If you add , -v , to the grub command line you will receive more info
during the boot attempt.
then which SCSI vendor. ?does the SCSI vendor provide drivers for
Solaris. ?
