If you want IPS package management so badly, then why don't you use the "Indiana" version of OpenSolaris (i.e. 2008.11) which comes on a CD-ROM instead of the "Nevada" version of OpenSolaris (Solaris Express) which comes on a DVD. Indiana is for people who want newer technologies like IPS. SXCE
