# pfexec pkg set-autho
Evening!
Been playing around with iSCSI on snv_105 x86 and all is well getting to
mount the disk on a windows target.
However trying to use the svc:/network/iscsi_initiator I get a rather
strange disk identifier.
I've just includes the last bit of the process but why the

I'm confused. I want to build a dual-boot system -- Ubuntu/OpenSolaris.
in "Getting Started With OpenSolaris 2008.11: Preparing for a Multiboot
Environment" it says:
Note - If you are installing the OpenSolaris OS on a multiboot system that also
contains the Linux OS, the Solaris partition must

I installed opensolaris on vmware running on windows vista 64bit and removed
it. But it seems like that it was installed as dual booting.

If you follow the instructions it'll give you the shut down at the

I will test the open-vm-tools, and share the result with you later.

Do 'svcs -xv' and look for the path to the log file for the failed
printer service. Start with that log file to look for clues to what's
wrong.
(I haven't tried printing with OpenSolaris yet...)

Assuming that you have any storage structure with more than just a

I would not stripe mirrors, because that adds complexity. It's easy

This is because iSCSI is a block-level protocol. It needs to 'talk'
directly to blocks. The -V option tell zfs to create a virtual block
device. Once you connect to it over iSCSI, you can format it like you
would any block device.

well, the -V actually tells zfs to make a "volume"... which is
effectively what your "virtual block dev" phrase is saying... but..
i think ("V" == volume) is more "readable".
eg,
# zfs list -t volume

mypool/myvol 2M 22.8M16K -
mypool/vol
Thx.
But What it is for?
Looks nothing, but confusion...

Hello,
I very interested in a backup/replication solution, like the AVS but
unfortunately it does not seem to be compatible with OpenSolaris.
Does anybody know a solution similar to AVS which can create
backups/replications (not rsync) to a remote server?

You might be interested in seeing whether your programs assemble under
SunStudio. which can be downloaded as a package in OpenSolaris. To control
whether gcc or SunStudio is used to build your programs, modify $PATH.

Hi all,
I'm trying to created a network boot server, but:
/usr/sbin/in.rarpd does not exist on my system, I'm running 2008.11, the caveat
is that I'm also running everything as zfs.
Also, the OS is Solaris, put on my x86 OpenSolaris, as I'm trying to build a

You should boot with verbose kernel messages enabled,
maybe also with "moddebug" kernel module debug output
enabled:
