My Live CD worked fine in VirtualBox and from there I did a standard install.
Now when it boots it comes up with:

The 3.0.x versions of VirtualBox are responsible for the hard locks. There is a
bug which they are working on but the 3 series are unusable at moment.

The permissions on special file /dev/ip are "666 root sys".

Hi system5, thanx 4 ur efforts... well i 've been through that i've configured
cifs, and it is working too. But the thing is, like when i access the
opensolaris \\opensolaris, it prompts me to enter the username and password, i
provide that, now the thing is,
1. the username it asks is the one
I suspect that the command to join the workgroup in your case would be:
smbadm join -w workgroup
unless the workgroup is named something else besides "workgroup". If it was
named "mshome" it would be:
smbadm join -w mshome

random WIndows XP computers connected on a LAN is called "workgroup" or
"mshome" or something like that. When you are in the GNOME desktop for

Well... i've used winscp, hmm, the users are totally naive to the linux thing..
well i think it can be done this way, well, just want to ask, using winscp the
user would be able to see/access only his folder i.e., /etc/home/username.
