This is interesting ...Reason being i have been working on it for quite some
time(not on 2008/05,though).
The vnics and the etherstubs created would persist after a reboot.
However ,getting back to your question of "etherstub creation failed: object
already exists".
There is an entry made in /et

Solaris 9,
I'm having a problem getting the live CD to boot. It works great until it asks
me for my keyboard language, then it takes no input. The keyboard works fine in
the boot loader and it's getting power because I can turn the back light on,
but it won't let me input anything there. This seems to be a
I just formatted this morning and installed OpenSolaris. I used a 2008.05 disk
that I had. So I tried running the commands at the end of the URL above so I
could use the pkg image-update command and get some updates. However, I ran
into an error:

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get the 2008.11 release candidate to work under a Debian Dom0 in
Xen. (the opensolaris is a domU). The installer works flawlessly (as opposed
to 2008.05, when the weird workaround was required). However, after it
installs, I'm at a loss on how to get the thing to b
I am having the same problem. My laptop has been hung at 99% for way over an
hour.
I am trying to learn some OpenSolaris by installing OpenSolaris on my old
laptop: 1.7mhz Celeron, 512mb RAM. Not high end, but it should be more than
enough, according to what I have read.

I recently received a free SparcClassic complete with keyboard & monitor.
I know this box is pretty simple by today's standards, but I'd like to
experiment with it.
It has ROM Rev 2.12 and 48 MB RAM.
It has SunOS 5.7 (is this Solaris 7 11/1998 ?) Generic_106541-17

Hi,
thanks a lot for your speedy answer!
It didn't seem logical to me, that a program run as a service should report
it's state on exit.
I put a wrapper in place and everything works fine now.
Best regards!

Hi Folks,
Is it possible to pre-set the name the new BE that a "pkg image update" will
create? I prefer to keep my BE's named in alignment with the releases (ie
opensolaris_snv-99) rather than opensolaris-1/2/3/ etc.
So far I have been doing this by booting off cd after the upgrade and usin
Hi,
I am running into problems while trying to set up MLDonkey as a service in SMF,

Thanks for the reply, Daveu.
I think you were probably exactly right. Since this was a brand new install
and I had nothing to lose, I re-installed and instructed the installer to use
the whole disk rather than just pick the existing Solaris parition. It is all
fine now. That Diagnostics part
