Deleting the file alone didn't fix my problem, but I updated to VMware
Workstation 6.5.1 and both the time and the loading delay problem are fixed.

Hi all,
I thought I would post this here to perhaps help some other users. If you want
to run ekiga on OpenSolaris, you will need to have SUNWsigcpp installed,
otherwise, you will get a library does not exist error.
Open Package Manager and search for SUNWsigcpp. Install the package and Ekiga

I forgot to mention - don't install VMware tools. For some reason this makes
the problem worse - OpenSolaris will always fail to update the clock correctly,
even if you have just deleted the .nvram file. If you have installed the VMware
tools in the OpenSolaris gust VM then removing them should
I have similar problems running recent OpenSolaris builds on VMware. The
solution is to shutdown the VM, delete the .nvram file from the VMs directory,
then restart the VM. Choose the "text boot" option since this will let you see
the tell-tale "Time-of-day clock unresponsive: dead batteries?" m

After stepping through the python code I found that my /etc/passwd file had
an mstat of 0, ie a last modified date of jan-1 1970 UTC. I have used rdate
to set my clock correctly but after reboot it is setting to Dec 28 1986.
When I go into the BIOS the date/time is correct.

Hi,
Please respond directly to me.
I installed opensolaris 2008.11 (build 101b). The only tab
displayed in the session preferences menu is "Startup Programs".
What happened to the "Session Options" tab which used to allow
me to save changes to the session?

something basic here is wrong in my config.
i just installed barebones sol10x86. i can only ping the local machine. i don't
see any lights on on the NIC.
I have installed solaris on my optiplex 740 with the syskonnect drivers.
here are 'ifconfig -a' results:

Only if you build your own binaries - released binaries are always built
optimized, not debugging.

Because sendmail was added to Solaris so very very long ago that
package names were still limited to 9 characters - with 4 taken
up by SU

Are you trying to create redundancy for your data, if so then the mirror 1
setup pointed out above is the way to go. But if your trying to create a dual
boot environment so you have to identical setups to play with and for possible
testing then I would suggest not doing the dual boot and just us
I'm not positive but I don't think that's possible. Otherwise you would simply
be able to bridge the wireless to the virtual nic for vbox to use host
networking instead of nat.

Hello,
on my laptop Dell D620 (chipset ICH7) isn't possible change SATA mode
(ahci/legacy) so OpenSolaris 2008.11 RC2 is using ata(7D) driver for SATA disk
and cdrom. On Linux it works in AHCI mode. Is possible enforce using ahci
driver instead of ata driver?
Thanks.

The only thing eventually suspicious: It still says ... 64 bit. If i am not
