If I use the example program at
http://blogs.sun.com/praks/entry/file_events_notification
on /proc, it gets errno 48 (ENOTSUP). This is _not_ helpful (unless there's a
better
way to be notified of process creation/termination than monitoring /proc for
changes);
without FEN, it would take a loop
Hi Guys,
Something very odd happen to my OS 2008.11 snv_106 today. I replaced my old
wireless network card with another of identical model. The previous one worked
perfect. However, for some reason, the new one broke the whole system! My OS is
not even able to boot! I don't have gdm, no console
Hi,
I'm running into an issue with the rge driver, and am wondering if anyone has
any suggestions on what to do. I've tried on 2 different builds, with 2
slightly different results. My test is to copy 30 gigs of files to a zfs backed
nfs share running on this machine. On 2008.11, the transfer d

I'm guessing that it's an issue with the nVidia sata driver?
here's the relevant section of /var/adm/messages from a successful boot of 101b:

You can use snoop and filter on just the nfs traffic. There is enough to
see what the filehandles(FH) are.
Also use nfsstat, you can see what call counts are. The counters can be reset.

If you using ufs as a root fs, since I have started using zfs rpool as root I
do not have the issue you describe when power goes out and reboot anymore, ufs
does not seem as robust as Solaris 904 used to be with logging manually enabled
in vfstab you could loose power and not have any issues.

All the time, it's called SSH ;-) The real question is why do you want a
graphical interface to your remote OpenSolaris box? If it's to run the GUI
config tools like packagemanager/etc just displaying them back to your Mac
using X. For example, if I want to connect to an OpenSolaris server with

I found that I had a bad motherboard, getting memory errors. Changed out the
motherboard and ran memtest86 overclocked for 5 days, then set back to spec'ed
speed. I cannot say that all issues above were the memory errors, but my bet
is that many of them were. I switched to CUPS and SNV105 jus
Over the past month I have learned [the hard way] that many PCs are not
entirely reliable. Of course I knew this, but nothing like experience drives
it home. Evidently the memory access patterns and frequency enables OS's and
applications to work remarkably well with unreliable hardware.

I have an SNV105 based ZFS file server doing NFS.
Sometimes I think it should be idle but there is heavy disk activity, for an
extended time.
Is there a way that I can monitor what files are being accessed, or open?
Thanks.

OK, in replying to myself, I managed to get b107 to boot. I had to
remove the "/a/reconfigure" file when logged in single user mode and the
root drive was mounted on /a. This only confirms that my computer is
locking up at "configuring devices". By removing the file reconfigure

Hi,
I've tried to installed opensolaris 811 on a IBM x3550 from the boot live cd.
I've choose the keyboard type and the language correctly.

My problem is that I didn't see anything (no video input for the screen) when
the Xserver is running.

I've started from clean b07 (installed from DVD image) and it builds b107
sources without problems.

If you're referring to in Xorg, this is a known bug introduced by the

Ok, so I booted with options -kdv and got the following last lines before it
froze:
installing rootnex, module id 23.
installing iommulib, module id 24.
root nexus = i86pc

Ok, so I booted with options -kdv and it got up to loading and installing
module id's 23 and 24, called rootnex and iommulib. The lines after that were:
root nexus = i86pc
Start to check dmar related boot options
Start to create iommu state structures
dmar0,0 state structure created

Hi all.

One thing that really push my nerves: everytime I reboot or poweroff

Hi
I've been using live upgrade on a system which had it's last fresh install with

I'm now on SXCE 107, and things aren't looking too rosy.
