First of all, I am new to (Open)Solaris environment, so please be gentle.
Previously, I worked with Ubuntu Linux distribution and now I switched to
Solaris 10, only because of ZFS file system. Now, my problem is related to the
fact that under Ubuntu I build a RAID5 system using mdadm

For the partial-record problem, try "obs=256k" ins

You have a typo for "Naming Service Switch"
pfexec cp /etc/nsswitch.conf /etc/nsswitch.conf
svcadm enable svc:/network/dns/client:default
svcadm restart system/name-service-cache:default
I assume you have an appropriate "/etc/resolv.conf" file in place.

There's no way that I know of to update the IPS version of VirtualBox.
I'm expecting it to be here soon (I agree it's taken longer than normal
this time to hit the repository). If you're really anxious, just
unintstall the IPS version and install the SVR4 version from their site.
