I had the same or a similar issue - white screen on the VNC client after
logging in. I cleared it up by disabling desktop Visual Effects on the VNC
server side.

Hi All
I'm in the lengthy process of migrating services off a Linux server to a new
snv_129 box. Your patience with a Solaris newbie would be appreciated ;-)
One of the applications I am running is a 1-Wire weather system. The USB to
1-Wire adapter I have uses an FTDI chipset.

Is it possible that you are running off the OpenSolaris Live CD instead
of your installed guest?
In VirtualBox, verify that you have no CD mounted (real or image)
before your guest is booted.

Hi,
I am running OpenSolaris build 130 in virtualbox. I created the image using all
the default settings in virtualbox. However, when I try to download or upgrade
things, there is only 129MB free space. I created the machine with fixed 16GB

Thanks! I followed the work around in the 130 release notes you pointed to and
startup is now fine; also reboot succeeds. I still get the messages about
module "austr" but maybe they are ignorable.

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help with this. I went to the HCL pages and the T42 was
listed as compatible for OpenSolaris, but I couldn't find anything on my
printer which is a Samsung ML-1740 laser printer (cheap one from around 2005.)
Is it possible to get it up and running? I tried the Mana

I have just made that upgrade (to snv130) together with the latest VirtualBox

On the positive side - a Virtual Box guest (WinXP) now works fine with my usb

didn't recognize the scanners at all. So that's progres

Hi,
I've recently set-up an OpenSolaris machine running on x84_64 hardware.
This machine is now my 'network backup server' which runs rsync to
transfer files from remote servers to it's gigabit iSCSI connected
backup-zpool.
All works well; ZFS really kicks ass, but i'm running into a performance

Gazing into my crystal ball I would have to say that getting this working is at
best a low priority task for Sun given how prevailant 64-bit is now. I think it

Hi,
I'ld like to use an OpenSolaris Based Machine as VM-Server (In the same way
like using a VMWare Server).
Is this realistic and stable?
Is XEN already able to export the VMs in VMWares ESX Format?
Could you show me the doku? Searching for "xen" on wikis.sun.com only points to
