Hi everybody,
my new private Fileserver got some crazy behavior while writing files:
it starts copying (50 - 100MB) then it pause for a moment and copy again and
so on.
In sum, the write speed is about 13MB/s.
Anyone an Idea where to start debugging?
The System is a Intel Atom 330 with 3 WD

Atom is slower than P4, so you get lower speeds. On my P4 with 1GB RAM, I got
20MB/sec on 4 Samsung 500GB discs in raidz1. If you have 64bit CPU, you get
faster speeds. P4 is 32 bit.
Also, ZFS buffers data, and then writes. Then buffers, then writes. etc.

Thanks, but
P4 seems to be much slower than the Atom.
Atom is 64bit and Dual Core.
While loading Data over SMB from the P4 system is unasable - on the Atom
everything is very smooth.
Even when compression is on Atom is much faster...
I'll trying to enable AHCI - maybe this will help

The zpool stores the physical device path (in the
pool's on disk label, see the phys_path property in zdb
output) that is used to access the pool.
By changing between AHCI and P-ATA legacy emulation

definitely check out Ben Rockwood's blog at www.cuddletech.com because as far
as I know, he's the guy who does all the enlightenment development /
maintaining on Solaris and OpenSolaris. In particular look at some of these
