It looks until unable to initialize T-state is supported with 64bit, you need
to use your earlier work around in "problem: Live cd wouldn't boot answer:
Booted 32 bit kernel and set acpi-user-options=0x8"
and you should submit a bugid on your dmesg output of :
prtdiag -v ; /usr/X11/bin/scancpi
I downloaded snv_b105 and attempted to boot off of the dvd and is sat at a
blinking cursor right after the following.

Apparently Novell has certified this device for use with SUSE® LINUX Enterprise
Desktop 10 for AMD64® & Intel® EM64T® Service Pack 2 for SUSE® SLED 10.

I was unable to locate a "VT" option in the bios. The BIOS version number is
786G1 v01.08.
Thanks for the tip.

Just a guess: I have seen 64 Bit support very often disabled in the BIOS of HP
machines. You may want to have a look there and enable VT.
Good luck!

I was hoping to hear of other folks having problems with this specific piece of
equipment, but apparently I have something that is not common place in the
OpenSolaris world. I will see if the next release of OpenSolaris works better
and try again. If someone needs more information specifically
can you post the following:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log ; prtdiag -v ; dmesg ; /usr/X11/bin/scanpci ; prtpicl
-v ; prtconf -Dpv

Update:
I ran the kmdb with the live cd and here are the last few lines of the result.
I had to type this out, so please forgive any mistakes, the spacing most
likely isn't correct.
[0]> ::step
<-[mkmdb: target stopped at:
kmdb_enter+0xe: call-0x5b3

Update:
I tried to see if I really needed the acpi-user-options setting to boot and
when I removed that setting I was still able to boot. I am still not able to
boot the 64 bit kernel and I will step through the kmdb boot tomorrow and post
the findings.

It'd be good if you can post the logs from debug boot.
First try adding just -kv to the kernel option. If it just reboots, use -kdv
and step through. I would have loved to give more details, but they have been
repeated numerous times here.

Update:
The xscreensaver issue was worked around by disabling the power management
option.
This is probably related to the acpi-user-options flag I had to set at boot
time.
