Thanks for your reply. I'll stick with the command line.

See what you mean now, I never use the GUI to update as for example it says I
have updates then when I try to update it says I am already up to date.
IMHO stick to the command line and use pkg it seems to have a lot less problems.

Trying to do a 'update all' - and see message 'Update all unexpected error in
evaluation:' but there is nothing displayed after that... so how do I know what
is wrong ?

Yes, I did try that.

Hi,
I had once that on one of my servers and on my laptop.
On the server side the resolution was to upgrade the firmware of the scsi
controller.
On the laptop I had to reinstall grub. Set the Solaris partition as active and
install the grub with the option -m to be installed into the MBR

Did you update the FDISK partitions (remove what was there and add a
Solaris partition) on the drives before you installed?

Yes, I did try that.

I'm having a problem with a new install. Upon reboot the system hangs on "Bad
PBR Sig". I can boot in single user mode via the install disk and mount the
freshly installed software (I'm even asked if I'd like to mount the system a@/a
during boot). Everything appears to be just fine.
