How do I do that exactly? I have IDE drives on the windows machine but they are
all to my knowledge in UDMA 5 mode.

One of those machines must have a slow drive. I get about 50MB/s off my
windows box and ~100MB/s /tmp to /tmp on Solaris.

increased MTU value to 7000 on the NIC and also tweaked tcp values to the
following:
set ndd:tcp_wscale_always=1
set ndd:tcp_tstamp_if_wscale
