What does "pkg publisher" show... It looks like you missed the -P to me.

Hmm... there's something left to be desired, around the "pkg"/gui interface.
the "old" original thing shows up in the package manager gui, as
"opensolaris.org".
the new, updated (through the gui, not command line i hve to confess)
configured thingie, is ALSO just listed as "

Have you tried build 134 from from genunix.org? It's newer than the 2009.06
live CD and contains lots of fixes. AFAIK there's a text mode installer
available there, too.

More progress..
I managed to copy in, via a local MSDOS partition, the "bcme" drivers
downloaded from broadcom's site.

Well... I've made SOME progress on my macbook pro install.
I can coax the thing to display graphics in VESA mode, when I use
Xorg -configure
and then manually insert into the Monitor section,
HorizSync 28.0 - 33.0
VertRefresh 43.0 - 72.0
These were actually "autodetected" at some point a

I can run opensolaris in openbox relatively okay.
I can also boot the 2009 livecd.
but I havent managed to install to hard drive yet. I'd appreciate some help.
vesa mode does not work.
This wouldnt be so difficult if there was a text mode installer, but... yeah
