The actual problem is the call of DEFINE macros in safestack.h. They should not
be there.
The only reason those lines haven't been removed us that we fear someone might
have use of them. I plan to submit a PR for 3.0 that does r

OKay, Solaris 10 and for some reason you are using Studio 12.4?
Fair enough. I will take a glance.

This is sparc 10, building no-shared, oracle studio 12.4. Building shared works
fine. The change was introduced in 1.1.1b.

Thanks, from someone else who builds no-shared and will need this mod.

This seems to be caused by the ongoing saga documented in issues 6912 and 8102.
These functions were declared as weak in 1.1.1b.

Grasping at straws here, but I had to patch one of the assembler
files in the past on Solaris. The patch is below.
me% cd /path/to/openssl/src/crypto/bn/asm
me% patch < /tmp/sparcv9a-mont.pl.patch

This is the build line for sanity test:
rm -f test/sanitytest
${LDCMD:-cc} -xarch=v9 -xstrconst -Xa -xO5 -xdepend -m64 -xcode=pic32
-xldscope=hidden
: -xarch=v9 is deprecated, use -m64 to create 64-bit programs
Does it need -lssl?
