Hi Wangster,

Are you sure the web-server is your problem ? Are you connecting with your
browser and seeing that you have only 40 bit encryption ? If the latter is
the case then it's because your Netscape Browser or IE are export grade
(which is the case if you are resident outside the U.S. I think what is
happening is that your Apache server figures out that your browser can't
cope with 128 bit encryption.

To upgrade/test your browsers capability go to www.fortify.net (upgrade only
valid for Netscape). To upgrade IE5 go to www.swisskey.ch and click on
"software", somewhere there is the patch for IE5.

Subject: Newbie question: how to enable 128bit encryption?

I've just setup Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.4.10 OpenSSL/0.9.4.

I used the 'make certificate' directive with TYPE=custom to setup my
server so that it acts as its own CA. Everything works exactly as I
expected except that I can not figure out how to make it do 128bit
encryption instead of 40.

Also, now that I have the server all up and running, how do I install a
new cert (assuming I can figure out how to make a 128bit version) ?

If anyone can point me in the proper direction, it would be greatly
apreciated.

Regards,

Wangster
