Thanks Patrick, But in Fedora they make it easier in Kde.
This is KDE. What does fedora have to do with it, expecially in a SUSE
forum?

Is there a way to prevent Smart from deleting the packages that have been
downloaded to /var/lib/smart/packages after installation? I'd like to
upgrade a 10.1 installation to KDE 3.5.3, but once I convert other machines
to 10.1 it would be nice not to have to re-download the KDE packages

I just can't figure out how I did it FC5 and was not able to figure it
out in Suse.
