I would try to save it as an .xls excel 2k/2003 spreadsheet. Then open
it and save again to it's original specifications. Quite often, I found
that changing between openoffice and MS-Office formats back and forth
surprisingly cured many strange looking faults with office files from
both products.

On a side note, OpenOffice it is a very good opportunity for me to
repair damaged MS-Office files. If they do not open with MS-Office
anymore, once opened with ms-office, much more often than never, they
will work with MS-Office, once again.

imho worth a try.
