I have an Intel D975XBX2KR motherboard I would like to get up and running under either SUSE 10.1 or 10.2 this weekend. I will be converting from an Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP board that I am currently running 10.1 on. It has just proven to be too much of a hassle with the Jmicron SATA controller, unsupported eth0 gigabit, and Asus's total lack of regard for their Linux user base.
I intend to put the Core2 Duo E6400 and ram I am using in the Asus into the Intel board. I understand that the Marvel SATA controller on this board is not yet well supported under Linux, but I don't think I need to use it at this time. I am hopeful that the well supported Intel ICH7 controller on the Intel board will allow me to run my IDE DVD/RW and a couple 250MB SATA drives that I have here under software RAID1. I use the SATAs just for backup, and the OS is installed on an Ultra 160 SCSI drive run by an Adaptec 29160 controller. I have custom compiled a 2.6.18 kernel with what I believe are the correct modules to support the Intel board's E1000 eth0, the ICH7 stuff and the Intel HDA audio. Is anyone else here running this Intel motherboard with 10.1 or 10.2? Any gotchas I should be concerned about?
