Hi Michael and all, I'll answer your both last emails on this one...
First off, I've noticed that the WeatherBug stuff is not signed... so security has been forgotten here or what? --- What error do you get when you try to install it as you? ------------------------------------- Firefox could not install the file at http://............./weatherbug-1.0.0.2-fx.xpi because: Unexpected installation error Review the Error Console for more details. -203 ------------------------------------- and on the Error Console the relevant line looks like: ------------------------------------- Error: uncaught exception: Security Error: Content at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2455/ may not load data from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/weatherbug/weatherbug-1.0.0.2-fx.xpi. ------------------------------------- --- You must have some seriously extreme security policies going on if you can't install as a normal user.... not at all.... AFAIK... --- The only this sounds like is maybe you need to allow third party install (when you click on a program in firefox to install a little yellow bar shows up @ the top of the web page and says you can't install it unless you allow this site).. which little yellow bar??? nothing appears here... --- You probaly shouldn't be browsing the net as root any way... I never do that! Only used the root account to verify that WeatherBug could be installed using superpowers :-) Thanks and regards, Martin ----- Original Message ---- From: Michael S.
