Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [opnfv-tsc] [dovetail] Standing down as a committer on DoveTail

2017-05-02 Thread Wenjing Chu
I do want to step in to help explain what the issues are. The committers of dovetail project all wanted to both increase the talent pool and to broaden community representation. There is no disagreement on that goal. Different proposals were made in how to accomplish this - the majority agreed

I think 3 different issues are mixed here: (1) Issues at project execution - is there any evidenced misconduct there? From Chris "... I didn’t make that statement due to any unfairness that I feel should be raised, nor did I raise any, rather from difference of opinion as an explanation of why

2017-05-02 Thread Cooper, Trevor
Chris's explanation makes complete sense to me (I have been involved in many of the recent CVP and Dovetail discussions). The points made about power, voting, hard feelings etc. miss the issue entirely ... unless we attract broad community representation with the appropriate competence for

Hi Folks, For those that are unfamiliar when standing down as a committer one should follow this process: https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/DEV/Committer+Removal This requires an e-mail to the project, and addresses the PTL (Hongbo) for further action. My standing down was related to committer

2017-05-02 Thread Ash Young
In fairness to Chris, this was the #1 concern that came to me back at our November Plugfest, from numerous sources. I think Chris is actually the first to go on record as doing something about it. In his case, he has opted to resign as a committer. Honestly, I do not think it's the best resolution

2017-05-02 Thread Ash Young
Hi Bin, I wouldn't classify this as a "power struggle". I would rather say that there is a perception of lopsidedness in the governance. This was one of the things that came up at the November Plugfest. I really thought it would have been addressed by now. I guess I was wrong. Best, Ash On

2017-05-02 Thread Ash Young
Hi Dave, I don't think the issue is with having multiple committers from a single vendor. Committers should be committing or not be committers. My interpretation of Chris' email is that he doesn't seem to feel his voice is heard amongst the project governance. So I see that as a distinctly

Hi Paul, Thanks for reaching out, and happy to try and answer your questions. In reference to my statement around “my voice counts for little”. I have raised since mid last-year the need to try to bring in a diversity of membership and to try and reimagine how the project has been operating

Chris, I'm a complete outsider here, I have no familiarity with the Dovetail project and had to Google it to find out what it does. I also don't know what CVP is because it wasn't mentioned on the page I read about Dovetail. I mostly skim read the OPNFV mailing list or even delete without
