Performs the research necessary to create technical designs and logical functionality which will ensure that business application systems can be effectively developed and implemented to meet actual business needs. This position *does not involve hands-on programming but focuses on the analysis, definition and logical design of hardware/software systems.* *BASIC FUNCTION:* This position is responsible for formulating and defining systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems. This includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. 1. Work with business partners within multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies; participate in formulating and defining system solutions and objectives, based on user needs and a thorough understanding of business processes. 2. Elicit system requirements using appropriate documentation techniques to describe statements of the goals, objectives, or needs of a particular stakeholder or group of stakeholders (on projects of high complexity). 3. Translate and document each requirement type in the appropriate manner for business approval and technology consumption; manage changes to such specifications through the project life-cycle. 4. Provide traceability across the project life-cycle, tracking requirements status, managing changes to requirements and versions of requirement specifications, and tracing individual requirements to other project phases and work products. *REQUIRED SKILLS* Bachelor Degree and 5 years of experience formulating and defining systems scope and objectives. Experience with multiple full lifecycle process and software projects with strong understanding of how each phase fits into the overall lifecycle. Experience in using requirements management tools, such as IBM’s RequisitePro, RequisiteWeb, or HP Quality Center. Experience with business modeling tools and various methodologies/frameworks. Knowledge of the facilitation process and leadership skills; ability to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements.
