*Description of Position:*

This position is part of the Research Informatics Application Support Team
and is specifically focused on supporting the Unix and Linux environments
and associated applications used in research.



*Job Requirements:*

5 to 10 years as an administrator of applications in a Unix/Linux
environment

2 to 3 years experience in a customer/application support role in a
research, academic, or engineering environment

Working knowledge of Shell, Perl, VI, emacs, csh, gtk, gnome, kde

Excellent communications and customer service skills

Proven problem solving/troubleshooting skills

Demonstrated understanding of the principles and technologies associated
with installation, maintenance, and integration of servers and applications
in an enterprise environment.



*Preferences:*

Preference for working in a collaborative, team environment

Ability to work independently and with little supervision

Proven decision making skills

Demonstrated ability to establish and meet priorities and deadlines

Sense of humor



*Education:*

BS in chemistry, biology or other scientific/engineering discipline, BS or
equivalent certifications in Unix, Linux, system administration, and related
technologies.
