This role will be centered around the future state of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies, and will include - but is definitely not limited to - related research assignments, technology incubations, strategic planning and, when warranted, development opportunities. This opportunity is first and foremost a technical one - you will be looking across the cloud and foundational technical domain - but it also requires excellent communication skills, both within our small team, and with the business at large. In addition, the ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, hungry for new challenges, skills and technologies, and, above all, tremendously flexible. *Duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):* - Research, build, experiment against, and evangelize a strategic vision for the future state of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies. - Participate in and/or lead the design, planning and execution of technology incubations and proof of concepts. - Assist in and/or lead technology, vendor, and market[image: https://cdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png] <https://login.topechelon.com/JobOrder/JobOrderDataSheet.aspx?JobOrderId=75070> scans/assessments - either on paper, or hands-on. - Manage usage, assist business customers, and drive lifecycle maintenance of the Innovation Zone (our lab). - Implement new technologies and processes to automate, accelerate, integrate, and overall improve the Innovation Lab and other services provided by the team. - Continue to develop and maintain knowledge of emerging platforms. - Work closely with Enterprise Architecture and IT Operations to ensure strategic and operational alignment. - Participate in problem solving – be it tactical or strategic – related to the aforementioned technology domain. *Must have:* - Passion for exploring emerging / open source technologies via research, incubation and rapid evaluation. - 3-5 years of industry experience in software development, systems integration or systems engineering. - Knowledge of one or more common scripting languages (Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.). - Experience with automation/configuration management (Puppet or Chef). - Solid understanding of AWS, Google Web Services and/or OpenStack. - Demonstrated understanding of API utilization, integration and development. - Familiarity with one or more Cloud Management Platforms (CMPs). - Ability to work towards a shared vision, but with minimal supervision.
