Role:Sybase DBA

Location:Tulsa, Ok

Duration:6+ Months



Must Have:

-          Support Sybase databases on highly available UNIX environments
particularly on IBM AIX.

-          Thorough understanding on Sybase Replication server 15.
Particularly on MSA/warm standby/multi-site setups. Installing Replication
Server and initial configuration on AIX and Windows hosts. Creating a warm
standby application. Managing the RSSD. Creating, deleting, and modifying
databases for replication. Performing regular backups.  Reconciling
database inconsistencies. Auditing user actions performed on Replication
Server.

-          Design, implement and maintain all functions of database
systems, including access, methods and time, device allocations, validation
checks, organization, security, documentation and statistical methodology

-          Consult with users; determine requirements and recommends
database establishment and utilization.

-          Establish and maintain databases for user testing and production
with database refreshes/cloning.

-          Evaluate, test and produce recommendations for the selection,
user and deployment of DBMS software, data management tools and utilities,
data warehouse and replication tools.

-          Support problem resolution; work on repeated issues occurring on
the system and work along with other support teams to provide permanent
resolution.

-          Good team player who can work with different experience level of
DBAs and train them on various aspects of Sybase technologies.

-          Must take ownership of the tasks and lead them to completion.

-          Plan and execute disaster recovery tests in co-ordination with
other stakeholders.

-          Participate in 24x7 on call rotation

-          Strong communication skills

-          Possess good analytic and diagnostic skills



Mandatory Tech skills :



-          Sybase ASE 10, 11, 12, 15.x experience

-          Sybase Replication Server 15.x experience

-          TSM backup environment experience

-          Experience with shell scripting
