Kumar - Generally, export/import expects to be going to a higher level of Oracle. If you are moving the data from 8.1.6 to 9i, then that will present no problems. Going the other way, moving data from 9i to 8.1.6 can pose problems. The usual recommendation is to use the 8.1.6 "exp" program against

Dennis,In my case Net8 connection is not feasible because I have both OS Windows 2000/ Linux on the same machine using dual boot. So the only option for me is to export the required user from Windows database  and then import from Linux database. But please note that I have source database W

Kumar Ummm . . . are you using any 9i features? I'm assuming you have considered using 9i on Red Hat. Sounds like probably use the 8i export function to create the export file. I'm assuming the data involved is small enough to make export/import practical. If you create a Net8 connection, you
