8.1.6 and 8.1.7 are releases of the same version.
Given that, I'm surprised the installer is complaining.
I installed both 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 on an NT server 2 weeks ago, no problems.
You should be able to put as many copies of any version you want
on a Solaris
