I don't know if it works, but with Oracle7 it was possible to bypass the
internal password when logged in at the console.
You have go to into the registry, though:
Start | Run | regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
Create a new value of string type:
DBA_SID_AUTHORIZATION
[don't enter "SID", enter the SID of your local instance.]
And enter the value: BYPASS
Reboot.
This should let you in.
Please let me know if it still works with 8i, I haven't tried it.

In Windows NT, how to disable the password prompt when

I read an article in Metalink. The solution is for
Unix which I don't see useful to my case.
I checked all the sqlnet.ora files and all of them
comment out SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES.
Suggestion?
