does a typical oracle install create the environement variable SID
?
i just checked, via set command on windows NT. the env variable for
SID is not set. though there are other oracle related env variables
like path, classpath that point to various files of oracle install
etc
Are you talking about ORACLE_SID? It gets stored in the registry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> ORACLE -> HOME
If you want to set it via environment variables so that it is accessible to
all DOS shells for a particular login, you can right click on MY COMPUTER, go
to PROPERTIES -> ENVIRON
