Responsibilities:



The Release manager will be responsible for the Release Management
lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of
releases across the enterprise for ODE systems.

The releases can be inclusive of project/program initiatives, defect fixes,
infrastructure changes and security improvements.

*The role requires excellent organization skills, knowledge of
infrastructure and solution delivery.

*You will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes
for the progression of code in the development, test, integration and
production environments.

*The Release Manager Job function works collaboratively with all
participants in software development projects and is supportive of
developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments. T

*his position also works with IT management to improve the software
engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building,
deploying, and updating software and environments. T

*The Release Management responsibilities also include building the IT
Release Calendar in working closely with the IT release managers from
different portfolios across IT and centralizing view of all releases.

*Leads the effort of defining the IT strategic direction for release
management tools for ODE. Role and Responsibilities Plan & Build

• Plan and manage all Release activities

• Define target release schedule

• Coordinate release content and effort based on defect backlogs,
infrastructure updates, and planned releases

• Work with developers to understand impacts of branches and code merges

• Collaborate with IT partners across the organization

• Lead and coordinate Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and
Business Go/No-Go reviews

• Proactively identify and mitigate risks and remove obstacles

• Communicate plans and status; escalate issues as required

• Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build
and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

• Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
Requests for Change

• Create requests for change (RFC for SI and Production environments) and
obtain appropriate approvals

• Create and manage Emergency RFCs resulting from Production incidents and
outages

• Attend necessary Change Advisory and Architecture Production Support
meetings before deployments to discuss release scope, dependencies and/or
roadblocks

• Define Implementation and Roll back Plans

• Ensure that all deployments meet the requirements prescribed by IT
through the effective implementation or use of approved processes,
methodologies and deliverables. Deployment Management

• Manage and co-ordinate the deployment activities including the execution
of the Implementation Plans and checklists in SI and PROD environments

• Assemble and coordinate with multiple cross-functional and
cross-portfolio teams to support deployments of varying size, complexity
and duration.

• Communicate deployment issues, delays, and mitigation plans.

• Work within defined build, deployment, and support governance processes.



Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
experience

• *3-5 years of previous release experience*

• 5-7 years of experience in information systems operations environment in
systems analysis or development

• Formal training in project management practices preferred. Project
management experience required.

• Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle

• Experience managing multiple, time sensitive projects simultaneously.

• Strong analytical skills, ability to define, capture and report on
metrics to present management a clear picture of the overall health of
production and lower level environments

• Demonstrated experience working for large organizations on complex
projects

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward
task

completion

• Demonstrated effective leadership and skills

• Strong team working skills across client, supplier and geographically
dispersed virtual teams.

• Advanced written and verbal communication skills are essential

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint and
document management tool (e.g. Documentum)

• Understanding of build systems, source code control systems, defect
tracking systems (e.g. HP Quality Center) and the interactions between them

• Ability to work off-hours, when required, to facilitate production
releases
