Below is a bit about the job description for the DevOps position in NYC.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the design, development,
and support of software delivery pipelines for Java applications.
Experience with Linux (RedHat or CentOS) administration is required,
and familiarity with the following tools (or similar tools) is highly
desireable:
gradle, maven, puppet, ansible, spacewalk, rpm, nagios, NewRelic,
sumologic, graphite, jenkins, junit, git, nginx, jetty.
The candidate will be expected to be very hands-on as he/she will be
designing,
developing, and debugging code to automate the build, test,
and deployment of the Aristo application as an integral part of a
cross-functional team.
Experience building and/or architecting a modern Java application from
scratch would be a major plus
1. Develop new and maintain existing parts of the delivery pipeline for the
Aristo (Java-based) application using relevant tools and frameworks
mentioned above.
2. Train and/or coach non-DevOps developers as they learn DevOps from you.
3. Introduce and leverage new technologies.
4. Assure consistent design and development standards.
5. Work within a team environment to nurture critical thinking skills.
6. Ability to manage several simultaneous assignments.
7. Ability to work with an on-shore and off-shore team as needed.
8. Ability to work within an Agile software development practice.
9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
*Technical Experience*
1. Four years hands-on experience in DevOps, ideally working on delivery
pipelines for Java applications.
3. Some knowledge REST, JSON, SOAP, XML,
5. Experience with nginx and Jetty.
6. Exceptional knowledge of Linux (RedHat or CentOS)
7. Experience supporting Web and other transactional applications.
8. A working knowledge of load balancers and high availability architecture.
9. Understanding of network architecture including basic routing and
virtual IP.
10. Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up,
always-available service
*Education /Qualifications*
BS in Computer Science (preferred), Computer Engineering,
Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline plus
a minimum of 4 years IT experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
