*Position Overview: *

This is a hands-on technical position supporting a geographically dispersed
environment of e-commerce and back office production Linux/UNIX servers and
SAN and Backup infrastructure for Expedia, Inc. The qualified candidate will
have a strong background in systems administration for a mid to large scale
production environment with a focus on high availability, standardization,
and automation.



*Responsibilities: *

·         Provide operational (tier 3) support services for Linux, UNIX, SAN
and Backup systems in the enterprise. Responsibilities include host
security, performance analysis and corrections, disk space management and
troubleshooting/responding to issues and failures.

·         Automate regular operational tasks using shell and perl scripts.

·         Clearly document maintenance and support procedures for routine
tasks in order to leverage tier 1 NOC support.

·         Participate in a 24x7 shift schedule per below.





*Qualifications: *

·         Minimum of four years experience as a Unix/Linux and SAN Systems
Administrator with at least three years supporting a highly available 24x7
production environments.

·         Hands-on experience with Redhat Enterprise Linux and Centos.

·         A SAN background with EMC, Hitachi and NetApp is required.

·         Implement, and help support large scale, highly available, storage
and backup solutions for the production and lab environments at Expedia,
Inc. Develop and maintain operations procedures for daily routine storage
management and backup processes.

·         Act as senior escalation point for problem management. Create and
maintain Backup, Storage and Unix/Linux systems documentation.

·         Detailed understanding and of Data Protection Services, Backup
systems, backup software on Windows and Linux operating systems. Expertise
in enterprise SAN systems administration, configuration, troubleshooting,
performance tuning, preventative maintenance, and security procedures.

·         Advanced knowledge of network communications protocols and
troubleshooting commands and tools.

·         Familiarity with various database technologies and their system
requirements.

·         Hands-on experience with Solaris a plus.

·         Excellent communication and technical presentation skills.

·         Demonstrated history of superior customer service.

·         Professional demeanor appropriate for mature enterprise.

·         Expert shell and Perl scripter.

·         Deep knowledge of SSL, SSH, and PGP, and DNS.

·         Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks in parallel and
prioritize between them.

·         Ability to work as a team member. Candidate must be proactive and
solution-oriented.



*Work Experience and Education Guidelines: *

4 year college degree or equivalent background.

Minimum of four years experience as a Unix/Linux and SAN Systems
Administrator with at least three years supporting a highly available 24x7
production environments.
