This individual will help translate our retail client’s business intelligence needs into technical specifications for our developers. The ideal candidate will have experience migrating clients from one BI tool to another (ideally SSRS to Microstrategy) and the ability to map report elements from a legacy data model to a new data model. This role will require the ability to review a massive amount of report elements and create new, stream-lined versions. In addition, the ideal candidate will have some project management experience and be able to keep a team of BSAs, ETL experts, and Microstrategy developers on track to complete our migration. *Job Responsibilities:* Conduct comparison analyses of current manual and SSRS reporting data elements and new data available in Teradata platform. Identify gaps and partner with ETL teams to get the data elements needed. · Seek to understand user's business activities and design standard reports for paid search, affiliate, email, and display channels based on multiple disparate historical reports. · Develop standardized reporting requirements templates (potentially functional and technical versions). · Partner with Microstrategy developers to ensure they execute requirements as needed. · Conduct report quality assurance activities to ensure requirements have been met. · Assists in complex data analysis and translates business needs into Warehouse/ Business Intelligence solutions · Partner with the data warehouse developers and participate in the design and recommendations of the underlying data table structure needed to support analytic custom projects or reports · Communicating effectively with users and management, understanding their needs, and developing the correct solution · Take lead on planning for, developing, documents in the detail the functional requirements of solution of moderate complexity · Expert in all facets in the underlying data warehouse structures in use by the team. · Ability to correctly asses the level of effort to scope a project and coordinate the effort with the technical team · Light project management responsibilities related to tracking the migration stage (requirements, ETL, Report development, QA) for each report we need to move to the new system *Functional Skill Requirements * · 5-7 years of experience · Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related technical field · 3-4 years of experience with *Microstrategy (primarily from a user perspective)* · Experience working directly against relational databases such as Teradata, Oracle or SQL Server · Advanced knowledge of SQL and solid understanding of Data Warehouse concepts · Proficient in Excel · Experience in e-commerce, retail or digital marketing a plus · Able to independently create reporting requirements documentation · Ability to connect multiple data sources in a single source to build an efficient reporting solution · Ability to communicate effectively with other internal groups and reporting end users · Able to independently choose which data source should be used for various reporting solutions · Experience breaking up large programming projects into manageable sub-tasks. *Behavioral Expectations * · Self-motivated, assertive, detail-oriented and team-oriented work ethic · Strong communication skills (verbal & written); ability to translate the business requirements into technical requirements · Time management: Analysts will work on large projects and many data streams and many deadlines.
