This is more than an a WebSphere Administrator, this is an Engineer
position. Candidates must understand WebSphere internals and be able to
communicate that knowledge during a face-to-face interview. This is not part
of a large team, this job will mean being the lead on your own projects with
only vendor support and architecture guidance.

In addition to the requirements for general WebSphere experience, candidates
MUST HAVE at least one full year of WebSphere VE (aka XD) experience.

WebSphere VE skills required here include:
Dynamic clusters
On-Demand Routers
Core groups and bridges
Workload Manager
HTTP protocol expertise
Jython scripting
WebSphere performance tuning

Experience with Red Hat Linux and Oracle 10g/11g RAC is a plus.

We’re looking for a Websphere engineer with experience in Virtual Enterprise
(VE), formerly known as Extended Deployment (XD). This will be a hands-on
position creating scripts in Jython to manipulate Websphere Application
Server. We use version 6.1, soon to be version 7. The candidate will be
required to understand scripting and Websphere concepts such as core groups,
core group bridge, and details about the work load manager (WLM). They also
need to understand VE features such as dynamic clusters and details about
the on-demand routers (ODRs). I’m looking for 2 yrs experience with XD/VE,
and 4-6 years experience with Websphere in general. They must have at least
1 yr experience with version 6.0 or higher. This is not part of a big team,
this is one of two people who do all the work here. It requires a confident
self-starter who can learn quickly and be creative in their approach to
problem solving. There is no room on the team for someone with a narrow
specialty – they must have seen and done it all. This will be an ongoing
position, effectively permanent, renewed every quarter.

Interviews are generally phone screen followed by face-to-face. Please
inform all candidates that use of the Internet or other reference material
during the phone screen is not recommended. Candidates must understand
WebSphere internals and be able to communicate that knowledge during a
face-to-face interview.
