The natives are restless and looking for sex...
The native orchids in Florida tend to bloom in two main clusters, spring and
fall, with a few blooming in summertime and a few in winter in deepest
southern Florida. Here at the end of August and the beginning of September,

Leslie Bursey Anybody have iguanas eating their
orchids or other plants?
Hello -
Not iguanas*S*, but we have a 7-year-old pet
iguana...and learned fairly early that she must be
carefully monitored when roaming.
These (delightful) creatures are arboreal herbivores,

You said you were out of town for a few days??
Right; I traced you all the way from Homestead to Florida City,
to Panama, and to Puerto Rico.
Welcome back! So glad you found out again where you
live and who you are. Your silence worried me, I feared
for the worst, amnesia, Alzheimer's.

Would someone please recommend an efficient way to rid Paphs of mealybugs.
I've used insecticidal soap and parafinic oil weekly, and occasional spray
of
Bayer Rose and Flower Insect killer (cyfluthrin + imidacloprid), but the
bugs
reemerge when I stop. Do the bugs hide down in the potting media?
Tried that. Also tried 4-tube 4-foot fixtures. Don't. 8-foot tubes are heavy,
very expensive, and it takes two people to change one. Not worth it.
4-tube fixtures don't last. The outer holders get loose. Your best bet is
4-foot 2-tube shoplites, two side-by-side for catts, oncidiums, etc.
Be sure

do on this list is attack people. I've seen NO valid comments from

Not orchid related-
This has nothing to do with orchids, but I can't think of a more knowledgable
group of people to ask. The director of our botanical gardens and I had a
discussion today about flowering vines. He had a jasmine vine for years that
produced vegetative growth beautifully, but
Hi All,
I keep my fluorescent lights at 16 hours a day all year long. The plants
seem to like it. They grow and bloom very well. I have not noticed any
reluctant bloomers. Most will bloom several times a year and whenever they are ready
not just certain times. The only plants I have had
