Gee Buzz I guess you must be anxious for the global cooling to start seeing
that today (January 7, 2008 ) there are tornadoes and tornado warnings for
your part of the country (northern Illinois).
As for Charles Ufford - thanks for your voice of reason and logic - no
pejorative name calling here.
Well that's the way it was predicted to go back in the 70's. A global
warming period followed by a global cooling. What's new!

The carnivorous plant discussion group runs off omnisterra.com and has a
format similar to OGD. All I see on that website are carnivorous plant and
parasitic plant lists but perhaps something could be worked out with them.

Does anybody have any cultural info for Stenoglottis woodii? I just bought
one in bloom. It should be going dormant soon (it's deciduous). One source
said to keep it moist; another to let it dry out. Thanks in advance.

Eric Christenson, in his monograph, reclassifies Doritis ppulcherrima as
Phalaenopsis pulcherrima in section Esmeralda. He also separates out var.
buyssoniana as a separate species. He also includes in the section, P.
regnieriana, apparently known only from the type collection.

I don't know how effective it is but I add some crushed oyster shells (about
the diameter of a pea) to the potting mix. They should take a lot longer
than powdered lime to wash out. they are available at animal feed stores.
