Page 366 of my Stearns (fourth edition 1998) mentions albens-whitened; albescens- becoming white, whitish; albidus- somewhat white, whitish; albus- white, particularly a dull rather than a glossy white. A smaller Collins publication mentions albus=white, bright. An English to French free translation service (www.freetranslation.com)  mentions alba & albus as the same in English as in French. Sorry, no Latin translations available.
