sphagnum moss is the 'kiss of death' if you grow
primarily outside. Our combination of moisture, heat
and humidity allow it to form a slimy glob of
algaecicles and funguscicles. I don't even use it when
mounting.
It's a little warm here
The reason is undoubtedly because sphagnum moss is very very acidic.
The Japanese are either watering with very basic water, or are only
using the sphagnum for display.
