Using the method described in Tomoko Fuse's fantastic 'Spiral: Origami | Art | Design' book, I wrote some python code that can make an essentially infinite variety of those crease patterns (I was at a loose end over last Christmas). I have about 1400 or so such CPs in a folder on my laptop, and could make as many more again in a matter of seconds.

Since Fuse's method is in turn derived from work published as

Nojima, Taketoshi. 2002. “Modelling of Folding Patterns in Flat Membranes and Cylinders by Origami.” JSME International Journal, Series C 45 (1):364–70.

what is the appropriate attribution of a fold made from any such CP?

Does publication in the research literature mean these patterns are effectively public domain?

Thanks!

David
