I just returned from the annual Joint Mathematics Meeting. There are two major mathematics organizations in the US. The AMS (American Mathematics Society) and the MAA (Mathematical Association of America). Together they hold a joint (combined) meeting in January. There is a mathematical art exhibition which features mathematical art of all sorts. This year a middle high school teacher submitted a dodecahedral 11 hole torus based on Snapology. And it won one of the major prizes! His name is David Honda. I met with David and his work is absolutely amazing. I am including links to his winning artwork as well as to his blog. I did not know of him until about a month before the meeting.

So two out of the three prizes went to origami-related art work! http://gallery.bridgesmathart.org/exhibitions/2018-joint-mathematics-meetings/pavlovicen Full list of exhibitors: http://gallery.bridgesmathart.org/exhibitions/2018-joint-mathematics-meetings/ Faye Goldman
