Hi,
if you can use a polygon for your river, you might be able to build a
separate vector DB that runs in parallel with the raster VPB DB.

everything - and love it. But I dont have the $$ right now to buy the latest 64
bit version they have released (spent a small fortune on a new I7 to build
globes quickly instead)
