if fat32 is the limiting factor, why is it put as is on the stick and not
extracted? Some tools support that eg. Rufus for windows http://rufus.ie/ and
that works well with pretty much every ISO i put on stick so far.
i am pretty sure that can be done as well on the command line
once again. this is only necessary if a 4GB limit is taken for granted. in a
time where space becomes abundant and dual layer dvds, 8GB+ usb sticks are
readily available _and_ cheap i'd suggest concentrating efforts to tackle the
limit instead of minimizing the users choice.

incidentally i just came across Ventoy[1] via the Qemu Advent Calendar[2], a
usb stick boot manager that boots ISOs from an otherwise usable data partition.
it supports exFat, NTFS (to name cross platform candidates) among others so
there is actually no 4GB file size limit.
