A federal court in Brooklyn has upheld three lawsuits accusing the
Jordan-based Arab bank of promoting Palestinian suicide attacks by
funneling Saudi money to bombers' families.

September 3, 2005, 1:36 PM (GMT+02:00)

The suits were filed by American victims of Palestinian terror,
including the widow of John Linde Jr, from Missouri, one of the three
US security guards who died when a bomb blew up their vehicle in a US
embassy convoy driving in the Gaza Strip in October 2003.

DEBKAfile adds: The attack was planned by the Popular Committees, an
umbrella for Gaza's Palestinian terrorist groups. Notwithstanding
Washington's repeated demands, the Palestinian Authority chairman
Mahmoud Abbas has not extradited the killers. They moreover walk free
in Khan Younes and Deir al Balakh and draw Palestinian Authority wages
as "security police."

The Brooklyn court's ruling opens the way for survivors of Palestinian
terror and victims' families to seek hundreds of millions of dollars
in damages.

The lawsuits claim the Arab Bank aided terrorism by acting as the
administrator of an "insurance plan" by the Saudi Committee in Support
of the "Intifada al Quds", which paid $5,300 to the families of Hamas,
Jihad Islami and Fatah-al Aqsa Brigades suicide bombers.

The court dismissed two of the eight counts in the lawsuits.

Last week a Long Island court froze the assents of the Palestinian
Authority for failing to compensate the orphans of Yaron and Efrat
Ungar who were shot dead in 1996 by Hamas gunmen.
