NALCHIK, October 18 (Itar-Tass) -- Detained militants admitted that
they had been paid $2,000-3,000 for the October 13 attack on Nalchik,
a source in the Kabardino-Balkaria Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.
All in all, 20 militants have given confessions.

"Some of the militants, staunch Wahhabis, were fighting for the idea.
The rest were paid $2,000-3,000," the source said.
The militants were given training "inside and outside the republic.
They were trained in groups, which later attacked the city," he said.
The militants were armed with weapons seized from the Nalchik drug
control department last December.

The search for the attack ideologists is underway in Nalchik. The
police are also searching for militants in the Iskozh district and
southwestern areas of the city.

Targeted inspections are being made, and control over motorways is
tight. "The situation is under full control," the source said.
