Motorist hit by fine for swearing at boys on car A MOTORIST has been fined £150 for shouting and swearing at boys who were jumping on his car. Steven Mitchell, 32, of Gilmerton Place, Edinburgh, admitted committing a breach of the peace on October 22, last year, when he appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday. Pleas of not guilty to charges of assaulting a nine-year-old boy by pushing him against the car and of pulling an eight-year-old boy across a road were accepted by the Crown. Prosecutor Fiscal Duncan MacNeill said Mitchell had been in a pub when someone told him there were children on his car. "He was angered by hearing this, " said Mr MacNeill, "but he over-reacted very seriously." Fergus Christie, defending, claimed there had been a number of incidents involving his client and the nine-year-old's family. He said the boy was well-known in the area, where he was regarded as a trouble-maker. Sheriff Isabella McColl told Mitchell: "I can understand why you reacted the way you did. "But you must remember you are an adult and these were children. It is up to you to keep control." ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> DonorsChoose.
