Good morning, from SoCal
A potential client has asked if OST facilitators from around the world use
hand-drawn signs rather than ones from professional sign-makers. So, my two
questions to you are:
1. Do you draw your own signs (Laws, Givens, etc.) or do you use signs produced

I made mine on my computer, using computer fonts and graphics, and had them
blown up to poster size onto durable, flexible stock at Kinko's.

Ed, I draw my own signs, usually on sight. For several years, I did carry
butterfly and bee signs that my husband drew for me. I'm afraid I'd become
quite attached to them and just left them at the Chaordic Commons Annual
Meeting! Another opportunity to detach, I guess.
I prefer the low tech,
I usually have the client make up the signs in the form they want. I
just tell them the content. The same is true for the grid or matrix. I
have list of signs that I pass on. Some clients want them all to be
professional and color coordinated. Some are fine with the hand done.

I like to make my own charts - bumble bees and butterflies included. I
usually do this the evening before or right before the event when I'm
setting up the room. I like the way this activity grounds me . It's like
a meditation or pregame warm-up - as I write the words and remember what
they mean.
I draw mine, has to be very colorful . Preferably a fresh set for every OS.
I use it as meditative like state of being with the client and the unique
possibilities ahead of us. I need it as a form of concentration and as
anchors of making the space "mine" and special for this occasion .

Hi Ed and everyone...
I usually make my own signs. Took me two years to get to a bumblebee
that I liked, thank-you-very-much. Often I draw the signs in advance of
coming to the site, with extra materials just in case there is damage in
transit or a need for more, say, in a larger room. Sometime
Interesting question SoCal Ed!!
I find making simple signs on site meditative, grounding me in following
what has heart and meaning, and being present in the moment. Occasionally a
client will be close by and will assist with drawing or coloring in -- a
truly fun time, as we transcend boundaries
Don,
It is good to hear from you. I appreciate your comments. They resonate with me
and I like the image your "grounding" word creates.

Count me among those who like making the signs, at the last minute, a
grounding/ centering exercise and an opportunity to "walk through" the
details. This meets my needs. . .
For the client, I think that the handmade signs give an immediate signal that
something is different here. As Lisa
